National Program for Sustainable Irrigation

About Us

Irrigation Story

"Previously I couldn't find a drip system that would boost production and reduce water-use at the same time, but the open hydroponics system has done both.

"In our second season using the open hydroponics system, we increased our navel orange production by 40%."

Irrigated agriculture produces around half of the profit generated from agriculture in Australia, a vital contribution to national and regional development.

The National Program for Sustainable Irrigation provides research and innovation to improve the environmental and productive performance of irrigation in Australia.

The Program funds and manages research projects across Australia, working at the property level with farmers, at catchment level with policy makers and planners, and at scales that cross state and territory borders.
